Botox and Dysport
Botox and Dysport are neuromodulators intended to smooth wrinkles and lines that form as a result of repetitive facial movements. When injected into specific facial muscles, Botox and Dysport temporarily relax the muscle and the overlying line or wrinkle becomes less visible. The injectables are most often used on wrinkled or creased areas around the corners of the eyes, between the eyebrows or on the forehead.
The results of Botox and Dysport treatment appear within a week and normally last three to four months. Side effects can include temporary swelling, bruising or redness at the injection site. Repeat treatment is needed to maintain the results long-term.
Could you benefit from Botox or Dysport?
You may benefit from treatment with Botox or Dysport if you are bothered by frown lines, smile lines, crow’s feet or creases on your forehead.
Dermal fillers are injectable products that replace facial volume. Over time, the face can lose natural volume and deeper folds and creases can appear. But injecting dermal fillers into these areas fills and plumps the creases, creating smoother and softer skin. Dermal fillers like Juvéderm, Sculptra and Restylane can also be used to volumize and define specific facial features such as thin lips, hollow temples or flat cheeks.
The results of treatment appear quickly and last anywhere from a few months up to two years, depending on the specific product used. Side effects are rare and include temporary bruising or redness at the injection site. “Touch up” or maintenance treatments are needed for long-term results.
Could you benefit from dermal fillers?
You may benefit from dermal filler treatment if you are bothered by noticeable facial folds and creases, such as nasolabial folds or marionette lines. Fillers are also a good option if you want to add volume and structure to features like your lips or cheeks.
