Are You a Good Candidate for CoolSculpting?

Candidacy for Coolsculpting in Princeton, NJ

Have you heard about CoolSculpting, the non-invasive body contouring treatment that freezes unwanted fat? The breakthrough technology has helped countless people treat excess body fat and enjoy slimmer contours. But CoolSculpting is not right for everyone — some people make better candidates than others.

Read on as Dr. Jill Hazen and the team at Hazen Medical Spa discuss the qualities that make you a good candidate for CoolSculpting.

You have areas of pinchable excess fat.

The first sign you may be a good candidate for CoolSculpting is that you have stubborn fat that won’t respond to diet or exercise. The fat may affect one or more of the following areas:

  • Abdomen
  • Inner or outer thighs
  • Flanks – i.e., love handles
  • Excess bra fat
  • Upper arms
  • Under your chin

Generally CoolSculpting works best where the areas of fat are relatively small and can be pinched between two fingers. For areas of the body with larger volumes of fat, surgical options may be more suitable.

You are at or close to your ideal weight.

The second indication you are a good candidate for CoolSculpting is that despite these areas of unwanted fat, you are at or within approximately 30 pounds of your ideal weight. Although CoolSculpting eliminates fat, it is not designed to help people lose weight. In fact, most reputable doctors will not perform CoolSculpting on individuals that are significantly overweight or obese.

You want a cosmetic procedure that is non-invasive with little to no downtime.

CoolSculpting is a great way to contour one or two areas of the body without the invasiveness of body contouring surgery. There are no needles, incisions or anesthesia. Nor is there significant recovery downtime, especially compared to surgical procedures like liposuction or tummy tuck. Most patients resume their normal activities almost immediately after treatment.
